PLANTS
Plants that rely on water such as moss and ferns are common in a temperate rain forest. Other plants such as the redwood trees, fire weeds, and skunk cabbage are also common. A redwood tree is very tall meaning it has shallow roots that can extend a hundred or more feet below the surface. Red woods only live about fifty miles from the pacific ocean because the climate helps the trees survive. Fire weed is common in burnt or cleared areas. Leaves of fire wood are rich in vitamin C so they can be cooked and eaten. Fire weed seed fluff is very flammable so it can be used for cooking while the stem is sturdy so it can be used as rope. The Skunk Cabbage's skunky smell is used to attract its pollinators such as flies and beetles. It can be used for medicine for burns and as a foo supply for bears.
